Harmons City Creek

Church History Library Picture

A new Harmons grocery store is now under construction at City Creek. Groundbreaking occurred on July 8, 2010, with completion expected in late 2011.

Harmons, your neighborhood grocer®, is one of few remaining locally-owned and operated grocery chains in Utah. They are known for their unique grocery shopping experience with fresh, local foods prepared by in-store chefs, artisans and experts; Utah’s Own products and an aggressive sustainability program. Harmons currently has 13 stores along the Wasatch Front and in St. George.

Harmons' City Creek store will look quite different from the traditional Harmons store. Because surface parking is limited in the heart of downtown, customer parking will be above the store like grocery stores in San Francisco or Los Angeles. And, instead of their familiar solid brick design, the Harmons City Creek store will have expansive glass exteriors to comply with downtown building ordinances.

The store will be situated on two levels. The 43,410 square-foot ground level will display Harmons' well-known fresh foods, pharmacy, custom floral department, deli, pizza oven, gourmet cheese island, salad and olive bars, custom meat counter, produce department and more. The ground-level entrance will be off of 100 South at mid-block.

Above that will rise an 19,500 square-foot mezzanine with an entrance off of Social Hall Avenue. The mezzanine will feature a credit union, a Tempér gourmet cooking product section and a cooking school. Customers will be able to enjoy eating Harmons' variety of freshly prepared foods in an upscale seating area with a welcoming fireplace, couches, tables and chairs, and Wi-Fi access.

City Creek will be Harmons’ fifteenth store, just behind a planned Farmington Station location that will open in spring 2011.
