CITY CREEK Project Scope and Timeline Upon completion in 2012, City Creek will encompass nearly 23 acres across three blocks in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City (see graphic above). City Creek is an integral part of broad revitalization underway in the central city - including the Gateway, expanded educational facilities at the Triad Center and the new 222 South Main office tower - all working together to create a vibrant and attractive downtown. Developed by City Creek Reserve, Inc., an affiliate of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the City Creek project includes strategic partners Taubman Centers, Inc., a leading developer and operator of innovative retail environments, Harmons Grocery Stores, a Utah company, and Cowboy Partners, a Utah-based residential developer. Demolition began in November 2006 and moved roughly west to east across the redevelopment area. Foundation work for residential towers and parking began in 2008 on the Crossroads block (City Creek West). Residential, parking and retail construction are now well underway on both blocks. During construction, parking and building access will be provided for those working in offices and businesses that will remain open. Regular updates for each of the three blocks will be posted on the Traffic, Parking, Business & Construction Updates page. Milestone events will be announced as work progresses. |
